November/December
Bryan Ochoa
Senior Class Administrative Assistant
December 8, 2021
Position Assessment
During these hectic 2 months I have accomplished my tasks as Class Administrative Assistant and have helped others outside of my positions. With the entire class a meeting was held with the senior officers in charge discussing WinterFest and all that it entails. A schedule is set and made consisting of spirit days and events. The theme for Winterfest, Opposites, will be announced through an instagram reel the last week before winter break. For the class meeting I took minutes and created a finalization of it all. Sashed were ordered then reordered because of a mistake, and the Winterfest basketballs are both already delivered. As we go forth in the coming months my fellow officers and I will begin preparations for our class decorations and the competitions. The senior officers are currently working on the Holiday Tree that is to be put up inside the Multi-use Building on December 8 at 7 in the morning. Letting the seniors experience a Walk Down Memory Lane in Holiday Tree form we are working on executing the idea. Outside of my positions but still as an active member of Leadership I helped the Vice presidents gather money for the Blanket Drive. The class as a whole also got into groups to decorate the staff members doors with wrapping paper. I worked with my group to get it all done and with a grand amount of help all the doors turned out great.
Standing Committee
I am currently in Link Crew but at this time Link Crew has not done any events. In the near future Link Crew will put on study buddy night on December 14, 2021 and I will be partaking as a tutor.
Special Committee
In regards to the Special Committee I was a part of the Blanket Drive committee spending time during lunch to convince passerby students to donate money. I was also a part of Door Decorating and did my best to wrap the doors and spread holiday cheer.
Mentorship Evaluation/Completion at time of Meeting
My mentorship partner is Gabby M, wherever or whenever she needs help I am there to assist. Whether it be in questions about life or just being there for her as a friend I get along with her well. While we are working even more on our portfolio I am there to give advice and guide her through the process whenever she has questions. I enjoy seeing her grow as a member of the program and reach out to others. I do have to say I am lacking in Mentorship and serving more as a listener because of the amount of stress on my shoulders. However in the 2nd semester I know I will be more readily available.
Concerns
Concerned with the lack of willingness to help others when seeing a person struggle. This may be due to my own morals but even just offering to help is decency. I am also concerned about the way people are coping and dealing with their mental state. It becomes incredibly stressful during these weeks and I hope that people realize when their mind and body need to rest.
Positive Comment
To Kylee Brown, my stressed queen, I can only tell you that this stress will go away and you just have to keep pushing forward. You and the sophomores are doing great, and I know how hard it is when all your work gets undermined but keep doing what you’re doing because your events would not be a success without you.
Change
I would like to see a change in how students manage their mental health. The things discussed in class actually have a purpose and people need to realize that.
My impact
Though giving myself more work I continue to try my best and accomplish tasks to the best of my ability and even further than that. I have finally allowed myself to not be the always positive person but instead present a more emotional side. I do my best to let others know that it is okay to not be okay; it is okay to not always be positive.
