November/December ASB Report

Sophomore Class Publicity Officers
Position Assessment
As the Sophomore Class Publicity Officer, publicity has been good. November was a very busy month for the Sophomore Team. A lot of prep for Winterformal and for Winterfest. Po’s were made and items were bought. The Sophomore also secured a window with Mrs. Gillian for Winterfest. The shopping cart will also be from Food 4 Less. Winter formal planning was great and a fun bonding experience for us all. Ticket sales were a hassle, but we made it work. It was very successful and great. The Sophomore Class Officers had a successful Winter Formal. A winter formal Instagram and with over 300 attendees at the dance, Winter Formal was a success. A lot of money was spent on winter formal and a lot of money was gained. The Sophomores worked really hard on Winter Formal and a lot of time was spent. From having to miss practice to getting up at 8 am to finish setting up, it was all worth it. Seeing the beauty of your hard work is incredible. The wow moment is unbelievable especially when it makes people smile. The photo booth was incredible and the many photo opportunities. The DJ was also good and his music was enjoyable. Especially when you can actually dance to them. There was Dude Be Nice week where the entire leadership class helped. Our dude this year was LJ, a custodian, and he definitely deserved it. A kind hearted person that makes connections. Warm and Fuzzy week occurred and the sophomores were quite spirited. Door Decorating and I was a group leader. The doors all fell down but that’s besides the point. The group bonded and had a fun time doing it. November and Mid-December was full of work and more work.
Standing Committee
For the Publicity and Spirit Committee no work has been done regarding Spirit Bombs. Only one person has come in contact with me regarding Spirit Bombs. The plan is all set for at least one spirit bomb but there is a lack of communication. I know most, if not all, would be willing to help but there is a lack of connection. Without the connection it seems that there is no willingness to help. Besides Spirit Bombs, the publicity being spread had been great. All classes have a class Instagram that helps everyone know what’s going on at school.
Special Committee
I had no key role in any special committee this time around. I did help in the Dude Be Nice Rally as did the entire class. Preparation for the Valentines Cards has started and my partner is Malery States. We already have a few of the hearts cut out and have plenty more to go.
Concerns
My biggest concern at the moment is the willingness to help others. Almost everyone is willing to help others when asked. That’s the issue Almost. With no connection people don’t want to help one another. Helping others creates connections and I don’t think people actually understand that.
Positive Comment
I'm incredibly proud of the sophomore officer team. We really pulled off Winter Formal. A dance that was a total success. It was incredible and I’m so proud of us. And thank you to everyone that helped make Winter Formal great. I’m super happy with the results.
Change
There seems to be a change in mood with the cold season. The class still has energy but it’s not as energetic. I speak from experience because I haven’t felt energized in a while. It’s almost winter break and maybe we will all get a turn to rest for a bit.
My Impact
I keep on trying my best to have a positive impact on everyone. Other people happy makes me happy. I joined wrestling and am helping some of the team with academics to raise their grades. I don’t think I’m having a strong impact but I am doing my best to be positive and I think that’s important. Sometimes I want a hug first and not be the one to give everyone a hug if I’m being honest. But I will keep on smiling and keep on having a positive impact.
